Restoration of a five story Victorian building

At this house in London OBC's builders are creating another level under the existing property and into the garden by some 3 m. The space will eventually end up as a gym and will change the dynamics of this five story Victorian building. We will also be refurbishing the house inside and carrying out restoration work to the façade.

OBC Building completed the Mycenae Restoration and Refurbishment project. Beneath you'll find the final showcase for this project.


  • On this Victorian property in Blackheath we cleaned the façade and re pointed it to produce this stunning new look. A small amount of tuck pointing over the arches was used to add in some fine detail
  • With the use of York stone we transformed the steps leading up to the entrance of this property
  • By removing the old dark polish and painting, the staircase becomes much lighter and gives a sense of space
  • OBC came up with a great way of creating storage with here by constructing a wardrobe as a way of partitioning off the bedroom from the en suite. We also built matching bedside cabinets for consistency
  • The landing and stairs look great in white eggshell with the carpet runner adding a touch of class
  • OBC installed the new upper flight of stairs. We had the spindles and newel posts made to match up exactly with the existing
  • This floor had complete refurbishment from new joists down to a high tech alarm. Our suggestion to create a shoe drawer within the small area under the stairs was greatly appreciated by the lady of the house
  • Adding in bespoke made units to the recesses can be a great way of housing all the wiring and equipment needed for the home entertainment
  • The addition of roof lights really helps to provide the light when the house is particularly deep
  • Bespoke made doors and frame create this stunning Apex detail the bring in maximum light at the back of this property
  • The staircase down into this new space flows beautifully from the new extension above. The borrowed light floods through the open risers of the balcony stairs from the kitchen to the garden
  • Very much the trend now is to create an underground space. At this project you can see that the client has a healthy appetite for keeping fit. The acoustics in these spaces are very good so home entertainment tends to feature heavily
  • The change in look from the start images is huge. The bricks were cleaned and re pointed. The new extension and basement have been constructed sympathetically and blend very well into what is now a truly wonderful London Home
