OBC Building.
Recession helping the environment.

How recession helped the environment:

The recession forced many building and construction companies to cut back on raw materials and find innovative new construction and building methods and techniques. Looking at the financial forecast for the year ahead, it appears as if the building and construction industry might still take a while to recover. Many believe that the housing market will only regain its strength from 2011 onwards.

Builders Change Their Strategy

At OBC Building we’ve definitely changed our approach during the past few years. The recession has given many companies such as OBC Building the opportunity to find cost-effective and sustainable construction alternatives. In a recent Envirowise Business Thrift Shift Report, they shed light on the effect that the recession has had on the building and construction industry. According to the Envirowise Business Report, almost three courters of businesses developed a detailed awareness of the way they approach, obtain and use raw recourses and materials during the recession.

OBC Builders develop an environmentally friendly attitude:

Large-scale and smaller building business such as ourselves here at OBC Building, have had to rethink our entire production, resource and employment strategy. Strangely enough the financial setback actually provided an opportunity for many companies to run their business in a more energy efficient and environmentally friendly way. Our Builders in Bromley, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks are now much more focused on providing environmentally friendly building solutions.

The recycling of on-site products and reusing quality materials not only seems more viable in financial terms, but it also makes more sense considering the state of the environment and climate change.

Setting a greener building trend for the future:

People are more than likely to continue with this approach even after the market has been restored to its former strength.

According to the Envirowise Business Thrift Shift Report, the financial setback as made many people more aware of the way in which recourses is spent and attained. Chris Hodgson, Envirowise Construction Specialist, said: "We know from experience that resource efficiency goes hand-in-hand with profitability, so it is encouraging to see better management of raw materials, energy and water forming an important component of the business response to recession in the UK."

OBC's Green Building Approach:

At OBC Building we rediscovered the importance of greener building techniques despite the global financial turmoil of 2009. Building companies are realizing that having an approach that will benefit the environment can also benefit their back pockets.
